Dirección de emergencia

  1. Why do I need to set up an emergency address to use Calling on Verizon Messages (Message+)?

La FCC le exige a Verizon que, para ofrecer servicio de voz por Internet, brinde compatibilidad con las llamadas al 911 y obtenga una dirección registrada para habilitarlas. By entering an emergency address, you are providing information to the Network that determines how your 911 call will route and will be provided to emergency services if you are unable to report your physical location. This address will be used if you call 911 using the Verizon Messages (Message+) app. This information is not used for billing or other purposes. Whenever possible, use your phone to call 911 in an emergency and tell the 911 operator where you are. Refer to the How to Use Guide for your Operating System to learn how to update your Emergency Address.

  2. What if I change locations while I’m using the service?

Whenever you change locations, you should update your emergency address. In the event you encounter an emergency and call 911 through the app, the device will use that registered address to handle the 911 call.

  3. What if I'm not in the US?

If you travel outside of the US, you may be able to continue calling, but calling 911 through the app will not work. Use your cell phone or a local phone to use the appropriate emergency number to contact the local emergency service.

  4. ¿Cuáles son las limitaciones de las llamadas al 911 por Internet?

If a caller is not at the registered emergency address, the call may not be routed to the closest emergency service provider. Additionally, the Internet service provider (ISP) or network may experience congestion or an outage during the 911 call, resulting in poor call quality or a dropped call.
