Screen Overlay Detected - Android™

Nota Notas:

  • The 'Screen overlay detected' error is caused by conflict between a running app and a newly installed app requesting permission to display info on multiple screens (e.g., messengers, alerts, battery status, etc.)
  • As a security measure, apps designed for Android 6.x and higher ask for permission to access your phone.
  • These steps only apply to devices running Android 6.x (Marshmallow) and higher.


  1. Tap the Settings icon.
    Nota If not available, navigate: Apps > Settings.
  2. From the Search field (located at the top), enter the term Draw then tap Draw over other apps.
    Nota If unavailable, refer to these alternate instructions.
  3. From Advanced, tap Draw over other apps.
  4. Tap any app on the list that was causing errors to turn the permissions off Interruptor en Off.
  5. From a Home screen, relaunch the app.
  6. Tap the available permissions (e.g., Permit Drawing over other apps, Contacts, etc.) to turn on Interruptor en On o desactivar Interruptor en Off.
    Nota Repeat steps (4-6) as needed to identify the app causing the error.
    Nota Alternatively, place the device into Modo de seguridad then repeat steps (4-6).




Alternate Instructions

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Apps > Settings > Apps (may appear as App/Application Manager, Apps & notifications, etc.).
  2. Oprime el ícono Menu Ícono de menú (esquina superior derecha).
  3. Tap Configure apps.
  4. If available, tap 'Special access' or 'Special app access'.
  5. Tap 'Draw over other apps' or 'Display over other apps'.
  6. Oprime la aplicación correspondiente.
  7. Tap the applicable switch to turn on or off:

    • Permit drawing over other apps
    • Allow display over other apps
