Preguntas frecuentes de Android Pay

Información general
  1. Android Pay is the simple and secure way to use your Android™ phone to pay in stores and apps. Choose your device, add your credit or debit cards, and you’re all set. With Android Pay, you can:

    • Use most major credit and debit cards

    • Store your gift cards, loyalty cards, and offers

    • Pay securely because Android Pay never shares your credit or debit card numbers with merchants

    • Unlock your phone and then tap to pay for in-store purchases

    • Get purchase notifications that include the merchant's name, location and phone number

*Android Pay is only available with merchants who accept NFC contactless payments.

  2. The Android Pay app is free. However, downloading and using the app when not connected to a Wi-Fi network will deduct usage from your data allowance.

Si te preocupan los excedentes de uso de data, considera usar Safety Mode más de la mejor red.

  3. To use the Android Pay app, you need:

If you have used Google Wallet™ before, it's likely you'll be able to use Android Pay and should receive a prompt to upgrade the app.

  4. Android Pay is the simple and secure way to use your Android phone to pay in stores and within apps. Refer to the Android Pay website to learn more.

The new Google Wallet is a fast, free way to send and request money on both Android and iOS devices. All you need is a US debit card or bank account. You can quickly transfer any money you receive to your bank account or spend it in stores using the Google Wallet Card, wherever Debit MasterCard® is accepted.

  5. You can pay with your compatible Android phone en over 1.5 million locations across the US, wherever you see one of these symbols:

In apps and online you can pay anywhere you see the "Buy with Android Pay" button:

  6. You can use most major credit, debit and prepaid cards with Android Pay. Refer to the Android Pay para obtener más información.

  7. Android Device Manager will help you find, lock, and erase your phone. Also, you can enter "Find my phone" on Google.com and it will show you where it is on a map. Since your payment information is never stored on the phone, there's no need to cancel your card.

Visita la Cómo encontrar tu teléfono page to learn more.

  8. Your name and full card details are never shown in the app and never shared with the store because of the unique virtual account number used to share your payment information. Google stores your payment information on secure servers and encrypts it with industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology. If your phone is ever lost or stolen you can easily find, lock, and erase your phone using Android Device Manager. Visita el Cómo encontrar tu teléfono page to learn more.

Additionally, to use Android Pay, you'll be required to set up a screen lock which can be a PIN, password or pattern.

  9. Your credit and debit card information are assigned a unique virtual account number that's used at checkout, so your full card details are never shared with the store. It's like a digital stand-in for your payment information.

Using Android Pay
  1. First, check to make sure your phone is compatible with Android Pay.

Second, if you already have a card linked to your Google account you can simply add that card to the Android Pay app by confirming a few details, or you can add a new card.

To add a card to Android Pay:

    1. Open the Android Pay app on your phone.

Note: If Android Pay isn't downloaded to your phone already, you'll need to descarga it from the Google Play Store.

    2. Tap the Plus Sign button.

Note: For the next step, you'll need your physical card available.

    3. Position the card you want to add in the window. The app will take a photo of the card to read its information.

Note: If you're having difficulty with this function, you can tap ADD MANUALLY to enter your card's information instead.

    4. Enter your card’s CVC code that's on the back of it.

    5. Tap the Next (i.e., arrow) icon.

    6. Review your card's information to make sure it's correct and tap CONTINUE.

    7. Review the Terms & Conditions and tap ACCEPT.

    8. If you don't already have a screen lock set up, you'll be prompted to set one up. Tap ACTIVATE.

Note: To use Android Pay, you must use a screen lock to help protect your information. If you disable or remove your screen lock, you will receive a warning that all of your cards will automatically be removed from the app to protect your information.

    9. Complete the steps to set up a screen lock, if haven't already done so.

You've successfully added a card to Android Pay.

  2. To pay with Android Pay in stores:

    1. Wake up and unlock your phone. No need to open the app.

    2. Hold the back of your phone against the contactless payment terminal.

    3. Your phone will beep or vibrate, and you'll receive a confirmation on screen to show your payment was made.

You’ve successfully made an in-store payment with Android Pay.

  3. In apps and online, look for the "Buy with Android Pay" button at checkout. Tap it and follow the prompts to complete your payment.

  4. The first payment card added to your Android Pay account is your default payment card. This is the card that will be charged whenever you purchase something with Android Pay.

  5. To change your default payment card in Android Pay:

    1. Touch and hold the card you’d like to use as your default payment card.
    2. Drag it to the top of your card stack and release it.

You've successfully changed the default payment card for your Android Pay account.

  6. You'll need your virtual account number if you'd like to return an item purchased with Android Pay.

To view your virtual account number, go to "Card details" or "Transaction details" in the app. Refer to the Android Pay website for more help.

  7. You'll use the virtual account number assigned to your card to process a return. To view the last four or five digits of the virtual account number go to "Card details" or "Transaction details" in the app. Or if you're at the store processing a return, select the card you used to make the purchase and hold your phone near the contactless terminal. It should read your card's information so the return can be processed by the merchant.

  8. Certain merchants like gas stations, hotels and car rentals obtain authorization for an estimated purchase amount. This charge amount may be larger than the actual amount of your purchase and will be withheld until the transaction clears. Contact your issuer or check your monthly statement to verify transactions.

  9. For the best experience with Android Pay we recommend you select credit.

  10. With cards from participating issuers you'll continue to receive all the security, benefits and rewards with Android Pay as you do with your physical card.

Solución de problemas
  1. Android Pay works at millions of stores across the United States. There are, however, some stores that accept contactless payments but do not accept Android Pay. In this case please use your plastic debit or credit card to pay for your items.

  2. Your card issuer is standing by to help. Call the number on the back of your card.

  3. If you ever remove or disable the screen lock on your phone, you'll receive a warning that all the cards will be removed from the app for your security since the phone lock is one of the primary ways your card information is kept safe.

  4. The Google Wallet Card is a prepaid card that lets you spend your Wallet Balance everywhere debit MasterCard is accepted within the US, or withdraw cash at ATMs. You can add money to your Google Wallet Card through a linked bank account, debit card, or when a friend or family member transfers money to you through Google Wallet or Gmail™. There are no fees to order the card, activate it or other annual or monthly membership fees.

  5. Android Pay and Android are trademarks of Google, Inc. Contactless Symbol is a trademark owned by and used with permission of EMVCo, LLC.
