    4G LTE Network Extender (SLS-BU103) Frequently Restarts

      Within the past month, my 4G LTE Network Extender (SLS-BU103) has been restarting itself around every 12 hours.  It had no issues for about 6 months prior to that.  I have tried power-cycling it, doing a factory reset, reducing the transmit power to 33%, and limiting the backhaul to 100Mbps.  Nothing else about my network has changed in that time.  It will restart successfully after about 20 minutes, but GPS signal issues (depending on weather) can prevent service from being restored immediately.  There are no logs about the failure, the first entry after restarting is "Boot Complete".

       

      Does anyone know how to fix this?

       

      I don't have a Verizon account; I'm using the extender for a device provided by my company (Galaxy S7) and a personal device (Essential Phone) on a Verizon MVNO.  I bought it from a third party.

            No, and I don't know of any changes to the network it's attached to either.

             

            I haven't had any restarts in the past two days, the only changes have been lowering the transmit power to 30%, and that the weather has been good (although I never had restarts due to losing GPS before, just losing service).  I'll keep an eye on it.

                  The device might be rebooting due to a power issue with the wall or the power supply.

                   

                  Can you run an extension cord or move the device to try a different wall outlet for a while?  If you have another Network Extender then try swapping the power supply and cable to see if the problem follows the supply or stays on the current device.

                   

                  That being said, a 12 hour reboot sounds like a scheduled task from something.  Someone might have setup a UPS power cycle that is impacting your Network Extender.  Try to monitor and record the times of the outages and look for patterns.

                   

                  If the extender reboots at the same time of day it might be due to some other device interfering with the power.  For example if someone runs a microwave or another device that draws a lot of juice.

                    I've got a couple other networking devices in the power strip, and they've been doing ok, and I don't have a UPS or anything doing power cycles on a timer.

                     

                    However, your comment about the power supply made me take a closer look at that.  Good recommendation.

                     

                    It looks like it's 3rd party and sort of sketchy, which is believable since I bought the extender used.  It's also rated for 1.5A and the extender itself says 2A. So I'm not sure how it even worked as well as it did for the first 6ish months, or how I didn't notice that before.  Oops.

                     

                    I've actually got a 12V 2A power supply that fits, so I'm going to try that one out, and see how it works.

                        The new power supply didn't fix the issue.  I'm surprised too.

                          Little by little we’ll come to a conclusion. Your first post mentions that a Factory Reset was completed. How about after the power supply switch; has a Factory Reset been tried after that?
