Why did my recovery boot up fail?

My Moto X phone (X1060) stopped booting up last week. I've tried everything I can find and think of to get it to boot up or recover or factory reset, including:

  • I fully discharged it then fully recharged it and still not able to boot up or recover or factory reset
  • Normal power-up takes me to the point of entering PIN, then it displays "Checking...", and "Starting Android", then it just turns off.
  • Fastboot allows me to select a boot-up option, but none of them work. When I select "normal powerup" or "factory", it just does the above. When I select "Recovery", it brings up the normal motorola spash page, then returns to the fastboot page with the message "boot up failed".
  • I used the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant to try to repair the current (latest) software (222.201.1.en.US) and it downloads and finishes the repair, but it still doesn't boot up into Android.
  • I talked to Motorola support and they don't have any other suggestions for my out-of-warranty phone.

I'd rather not have to upgrade it yet -- my contract doesn't end for 19 days. So I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions you might offer.  Thanks!

We appreciate your efforts thus far with trying to get your device up and running, mandjreid. From what you have explained, you have tested out every troubleshooting option. After a factory reset, we would normally recommend reaching out to Motorola for any additional assistance. If they have no further options, the best next step is to get a new phone. We can always activate a old Verizon phone for the mean time, http://spr.ly/65838aRex. You can also check out our current promotions on new phones here, http://spr.ly/65848aReI.
