What is 'downloading' on my device?

my s5 phone has a down arrow on the screen and "downloading   do not turn off target" ?????  what is going on,, do I have a virus?

No. Not a virus. It is a system update to install the latest security fixes. The update was released on 2/27/2017. Samsung Galaxy S 5 Software Update | Verizon Wireless

565DAVE, this is a mystery to us too! When did this issue start? Did you recently update the software on your device or download a new application to it? Let’s try pressing and holding the power and home button at the same time. This will soft reset your screen.
