Blackberry Passport on Verizon?

Like many others, I am a lifelong Verizon customer in my 50's.  Every mobile device I own, from my iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPhone 6+ and 4G hotspot is on my Verizon plan.  The only device that is not is my primary business cellphone, which is an unlocked International Version of the Blackberry Passport...which only works on AT&T and T-Mobile.

The Passport is just a great business tool - I can read and edit full legal briefs and other documents full screen (can't do that on any other smartphone), and of course reply with perfect spelling and grammar from the QWERTY keyboard.  More, my Passport is MUCH more predictive of the next word I'm likely to type from it's past experience - I say.  If I type in Hawaii...the Passport suggests is "Federal" and then "Court".  Can't beat that!

I had to move my main line from Verizon to AT&T to use the Passport - which broke my heart.  I also had to purchase and set-up a set of ATT 3G Microcells to cover my property to use the phone.  A necessary hassle.

I really look forward to the day Verizon releases the Passport for it's network - I don't care if it's CDMA or some form of LTE voice - I just want it.  The Classic just won't cut it given my heavy workload and the Passports unique wide screen that is a wonder to all who see it.

Don't make me beg but...OK, I'll beg.

Best,

Garth Ancier

Not happening. Verizon won't make the commitment to BlackBerry that would see them make a CDMA Passport. Face it - the numbers for BlackBerry sales simply do not warrant a commitment. Maybe if the Classic was flying off shelves, and if the Q10/Z10/Z30 were financial successes for Verizon it would be a different story with the Passport. But BlackBerry has been a financial disaster for Verizon.

Could be. when a company is concerned with the bottom line, it alienates customers eventually. The only reason Verizon funtions as they do is that they are so very big. The result is an outmoded system that they don't or cannot upgrade and we have devices that are bricks to the majority of the world. I am President & CEO of Star of Hope International, a non-profit with projects in 16 countries. The only tools that allow reasonablly consistent quality communication are the Blackberry's and the by extension BBM and BB Meetings (cross platform when needed). I'm rocking a z30 that is working very well but my next phone will be a Passport and the carrier may change.

For starters the "Dallas" is not the phones name and where was the "official announcement". Pretty sure you are making that up, but I am getting pretty frustrated with Verizon and not carrying the passport at this point. Will wait a little longer and then move to AT&T for the passport.

"Dallas" was officially announced yesterday and you can buy it. It says

The Blackberry Dallas was officially released under "Passport Silver Edition." Please spare us of your half baked research and assumptions.

I'm a little bummed the passport hasn't landed on Verizon yet. I hope Verizon doesn't make the mistake of bypassing this opportunity for the Venice.

Unfortunately it looks like verizon is screwing us again. They have their lips sewed to apple and Google rear end.
