I bought my BB Classic in February (after waiting almost a year for it to be launched on VZ).  I had the BB Curve for many years which I loved!  Now when I go away on weekends to my summer place in Northern NJ, I can not send texts.  The phone immediately drops down to 1X Voice/Data from 4G LTE.  I can sometimes receive the texts but can not answer them.  The messages just sit on my phone with that little "clock" looking icon on them.  I try to resend and resend and it does not go through.  Why isn't my phone switching to 3G, which is what my older device had?  Communicating with friends via texts is quick and easy for making plans, but now I am left out in the cold because I can't answer them.  This is extremely frustrating.  Makes me rethink whether I want to stay with Blackberry, after all of these years (have been a BB user since the very beginning when they launched as RIM).  What's the point of getting a better, more advanced phone when it's really not?  I had better service before.  Also, I just read that VZ offers something like combined messaging, which links your PC, tablet, Phone all together so you can send texts using Wifi.  Great - NOT.  Blackberry is not offered as a device it can work on.  Only Apple or Android.  Come on!!!!!   Why can't Blackberry keep up with the other device makers and give us the same experience as everyone else?  And .... I'm really [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] with Verizon's customer service for the past year.  They have gotten so bad.  They never return calls or inquiries, never fix the problem and then have the nerve to call me with customer satisfaction surveys.

I'm terribly sorry to hear of the network issues you've been experiencing with your Classic. What zip code are you experiencing issues in? Do issues occur at your permanent residence?

My Classic has better reception than any other BlackBerry I've used. I strongly suspect this is a case of a tower being down in your area and that the timing of your device upgrade is coincidental with respect to your network problems.

The zip code that is giving me problems is 07461 (Sussex, NJ).  My primary residence is in zip code 11356 (Queens, NY).  I never had any problems with my old BB Curve but now with this Classic, I do.

We want to see you getting the same great service no matter what device you're using with us, Maureen124. Is the difficulty occuring in both zip codes you mentioned or just the 07461 area? I checked out the signal expectations for both areas and, while it can vary throughout both areas and especially indoors, there's been no reports recently of the same difficulty you've described. Does this seem to only be negatively effecting your text or are calls and data also having troubles? When you notice this trouble, do you also have your phone's WiFi turned on?

The difficulty is ONLY in the 07461 area code and it is with text all the time, phone calls some of the time.  I am attached to my internal Wifi  so data is not a problem.  It is texting that I can not do, the device drops down to 1X from 4G LTE every time.  I believe I have said this already.

Hi Maureen124,

I bought BB Classic as well and since it arrived I have the same issues. Took me 5 months to deal with very bad Verizon service to finally force them to send me new device. However, the new device has the same issues as the first one. All these issues are identical to yours. Did you somehow figure out how to fix it? Verizon technical support just making notes when I call them and when I call again to see if they did something, they want me to tell them the problems again from the beginning. Looks like a strategy how to discourage customers bothering them. In the end they told me that they do NOT know about any other customer having this issue. Which is surprising, since when you google it, so many links pop up - including yours (on official webpage of Verizon). However, I do not believe that Verizon is willing to help me. Were you able to fix it?

What zip code do you experience the signal drops? Do you get any errors when you try to send texts? Do you notice the signal changes when using certain apps on the phone?
