Hi, I'm going to be in Japan and signed up for Travel Pass. When texting to someone in the US, do I need to type anything before the area code and phone number?

You can find dialing instructions by using Verizon's interactive travel planner at the following:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/trip-planner-tool/#/tripPlanner
Dialing Instructions
Many phones allow you to enter the international call prefix “+” (plus) in your saved contact numbers by holding down the “0” (zero) key, or with two consecutive presses of the “*” (star) key. That way, when you make a call, your phone will automatically convert the “+” (plus) to the appropriate international prefix.
Japan (81)
