why are there so few items in view usage when I make dozens and dozens of text messages each day ,

BETKIN85, keeping track of your usage is exactly what we want for every customer. No one wants a surprise when it comes to bill time. Let's ensure that we have all of the details so we may provide accurate information. Which make and model phone? Which messaging app are you using? When viewing usage you will have options for Voice, Messages or Data, are you selecting the Messages tab?
