Why am I getting a low amount when Trading in iPhone7?

I have an iphone6 and if I trade it in for the iphone7 My trade in is $85. I am 62 years old and don't understand much of all this but someone told me I can get more than the 85 if I sell it myself.  Am I only getting the 85 trade in because I've had it for I think 4 years?

Well yes you can. I am happy to show you what happens when you Trade In.

Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program: It's time to upgrade and you have an old phone now that you can trade in for credit! Woo! Most of the time, if you trade in you are taking a part of a Trade In Promotion which can include the expired iPhone 7 for as low as $0. You trade in your phone, and in return, you get trailing credits towards the newest iPhone. BUT this isn't always the case (your situation for example). If you are trading it in and get $85 (which is the Fair Market Value) of the phone, you may want to just sell it.

Selling It: If you choose to sell it, you can sell it based on the functionality and appearance of the device. If it is in perfect condition, you can sell it for $200+ on sites like Craigslist, Swappa, etc. You can also sell it on Facebook! If it is in poor condition you MUST disclose this on the sale. Cracks, scratches, water damage, hardware alteration, unreasonable wear and tear, etc, must all be visible in the photos of the phone. When selling a phone, do not get scammed. A lot of people sell the phone and the person takes it and runs. Just be careful.
