Just an FYI...there is still a deductible with AppleCare and AppleCare doesn't cover loss or theft...

Actually Asurion is not a bad deal at all.  When I lost my iPhone 4S last year I filed a claim and the next day I had a replacement iPhone after paying the deductible.  If you bought AppleCare+ for iPhone you paid $99 plus tax for the plan.  AppleCare+ provides repair or replacement coverage, both parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians. Service coverage includes the following: Your iPhone, Battery (1), included earphones and accessories, coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage each subject to a $79 service fee plus applicable tax.

AppleCare+ is available with the purchase of your new iPhone or iPad on .COM under the 'Add Features and Accessoties' tab.

Applecare is a scam. You pay $99 up front and then each service call is $79 and you may only have 2 incidents, where if you have verizon insurance, you can technically have as many as you want and it's cheaper. It doesn't even cover if the device has liquid damage, is lost or stolen or if you damage the phone yourself. It only covers out of warranty malfunction. That's what they told me. NEVER BUY APPLECARE

Actually you should read the assurion paperwork. It's twice on its own right. Also if they don't have returns in stock they stick it to you with alternative devices often most likely will not be similarly to your tastes so you could be waiting for weeks.

Just a little math. Say you had to do 2 replacements over 2 years. Rounded up for simple math. Starting with the 2 year cost and then deductibles for an iPhone 6 for example.

Applecare

$100+80+80 =$260

Assurion

$185+$175+175=$535

The only thing assurion has for it is it covers lost or stolen.

There are other cheaper alternatives like those who own a home there's a rider for homeowners insurance, there's Square, and a whole bunch of others.

Well, if you actually read the fine print with applecare, you'd realize they don't replace your device. They just fix it. I guess you're out of luck if you lose your phone or it gets stolen. Have fun on paying for another one when your iPhone gets stolen or has liquid damage. I'll be fine paying my monthly insurance and know I'm covered and you will get a new device as long as they are in stock, not necessarially a refurbished phone. Maybe read the documentation better?

Assurion gives you a refurbished device not a new device in 99% of cases... What's the difference?  Maybe you need to read the documents better, and read my post better.  Yes I used to have Assurion/Assurant.  Yes I have filed a lot of claims(probably more than most people within a 5 year period).  Assurion is one of the worst insurance companies you can deal with.

All Assurion has going for it is lost and stolen.  There are cheaper alternatives to Assurion as well.  Cheaper and better deductibles giving the exact same options as Assurion.  Some of them are from your credit cards, some are from your homeowners insurance, and some are 3rd party insurance like Square.  Just saying.

And where are your statistics coming from that "99% of the devices" are refurbished? I'd like to see that, unless you just don't have any and you're making this up as you go, which I'm assuming you are until I see these stats.

In the past 5 years I have made a claim at least once a year. They were flagship devices. All 13 of them were refurbished devices. 3 of them were iPhones. People at my work place will tell you the same thing I went through. My job requires us to go out in the field and our devices at times will take a lot of abuse.

This expands to different carriers as well and not just Verizon. There are cheaper and better alternatives and I have told my boss this, but he's to stubborn to at least look at them.
