I'm traveling outside the U.S right now, and I want to be able to use my iPhone here but i have to unlock my sim. I've been told that my carrier can provide me with an unlock code.

The Verizon iPhone 5 comes unlocked out of the box.

So does that mean that I can take my sim out and use a local sim instead?
