Can I get a free SIM card from a Verizon store?

Hello,

I am planning to purchase a Verizon iPhone 5s through an online retailer, and the device will not come with a SIM card. My local Verizon store told me that it would cost 20 dollars for a SIM card, however, I am reading information here and other places that indicate Verizon will send one to me free of charge. Can someone tell me what is correct? I have never purchased a phone from an outside source before, so all of this is new to me.

Yes Verizon offers a free SIM.

I bet it was a retailer offering the $20 SIM.

I would go to a corporate store or call and they should get one for you.
