Why I can't block calls that come up as unknown?

I have been receiving multiple calls a day for almost a month from unknown number on my cellphone. Why can't verizon let customers block calls to our cellphones from unknown callers?

Usage controls is the only way, its a paid feature but it works.

I tried usage controls and here we are 24 hours later, and I am still getting unknown and blocked calls! So Frustrating!!!

Thanks for trying Usage Controls AFig85! With this great feature active, you absolutely have the option to block those pesky restricted and unknown numbers. It's not turned on by default though. If you're still having trouble with those calls coming through, please follow the steps at http://bit.ly/uCspf8 to make sure "Block Restricted, Unavailable and Private Numbers" has been added.
