Time for VZW to stop charging users for tethering

Yesterday's announcement by the FCC should encourage Verizon to allow ALL users to have free mobile hotspot privileges. I am on an unlimited plan. When I try to set up a hotspot it says I have to pay extra. Verizon, please treat all customers equally.

if they do, then they will most likely have it remove your unlimited as a requirement to use it

Here you have two options really, if you have unlimited, you will have to paay 20 or 30$ for a hotspot from your phone, the 20$ is if you have a 3g phone, and you get 2gb for the hotspot, and the 30$ is an unlimited hotspot, for 4g phones only. However, if you go to the Share everything plan, I'd say geta  quote, see if it will benefit you, if it does, even if costs the same, you will still benefit from it becausethe hotspot comes included with the plan at no additional charge, while the old plans, it costed at least 20$ extra.

You agreed to it when you signed the contract you never read.  They have made accommodations with the new share everything plans.  They are a business, businesses make these choices well knowing whats going to cost customers and what isn't but still go with the best long term financial choice.  That doesn't always give the customer the free cookie they want when they want it.  You want to play, you gotta pay.

All that are using the Block C spectrum.  The iPhone 4 does not.  The iPhone 5 possibly will if it supports LTE and comes to Verizon.  Since they are not allowing grandfathered unlimited plans on upgrade you can buy it outright and keep your unlimited.

Thank you, responders for enlightening me. I am humbled, yes, humbled, no easy accomplishment due to my outsized ego. I did in fact misread the news item and now realize it is specific to a spectrum block. Still, I rail at what I consider to be an unfavorable contractual agreement concerning the tethering charge. Yes, I understand that was the agreement at the time I entered the contract, but it's been several years now. I think Big Red needs to give this feature at no extra charge to unlimited plan holders whose numbers will decline by attrition as we eventually migrate to shared data plans when we upgrade our phones and add family members doing the same. Just please give me some love before I send you that extra business.
