Problems after ios6 upgrade??

I recently upgraded my iphone 4 to ios6 on wifi. My laptop charger has been broken for a while so i havn't been able to sync my iphone to my itunes or back it up in any way. Now that the ios6 upgrade is done, my phone completely turned off and is now showing on the screen to plug in my phone to itunes.

DESPERATE, i am back on my laptop with a borrowed charger and i plugged my phone into itunes. It now says i have to restore it back to factory settings. Meaning, i will lose all of my contacts, pictures, etc. because i havn't been able to back it up onto my laptop.

I definitely don't want anything deleted off of my phone. Did any body else have this problem? Is there ANYTHING i can do to refrain from restoring it and losing all of my memory?

I also had problems. I was able to sync it with iTunes, but an error message said I needed to upgrade my iTunes. Once I did that, another error message said there was an error and my phone had to be restored to factory settings. Now my phone isn't even recognized on iTunes when I plug it into my computer. The iPhone screen just has an apple logo. I can't turn the phone on or off. Any advice?

Same here. I never synced my phone with iTunes because I have an older mac with a too-old OS. My husband spent 5 hours trying to recover my phone last night using his PC andhis  iTunes (after I finally accepted I was going to lose all my contacts and photos). Following the iTunes restore procedure and the phone is still dead. Nice that this happened on the same day the iPhone 5 was released so if I want a new phone I'll be waiting a while. This is totally ridiculous that a software download could erase all your data and kill your phone.

Couldn't you have backed it up to the "iCloud"? or some other cloud based storage before you did the upgrade? If you do not back things up before you upgrade your OS, you are only asking for things to go wrong.
