Re: How can I increase my reception in my house? I've heard they use to sell amplifiers that would boost your cell signal, is this true?

Verizon does not sell signal boosters. They do sell a Network Extender.

A signal booster takes the current signal and amplifies it. If there is no signal or too low of a signal, it doesn't help. These are usually placed outside to get a stronger signal to boost. These are available for 3rd parties, such as ubersignal. I have zero experience with these.

A network extender can work where there is zero signal. This plugs in to your already present wired Internet, therefore you must have home Internet for this to work. Verizon does sell these for about $250.

There is also the possibility of using cellular voice over wifi (VoWifi), some companies such as T-mobile and Sprint already offer this. Verizon has indicated they want to offer this, but there is no word on when that will be, if ever. This obviously needs home internet with home wifi router.
