Re: Can non-deleted (still saved) text messages be recovered from VZW with a Judge's Court Order?

To the best of my knowledge VZW doesn't archive the content of text, picture or video messaging. Think about it. Do you want your service provider storing all that personal information? Just think of the privacy lawsuits that VZW could face if such information were leaked or worse hacked. Then there is the question of storage space. VZW would have to purchase terrabytes of storage space to keep all of that stuff. That's expensive. Another question would be even if you were going to do that, how long do you keep it. You have to delete the stuff eventually.  Every day tens of millions of messages are sent on the VZW network. I don't see how its feasible.

VZW does have a dedicated department that works with law enforcement and with a subpoena from a judge you'll get an answer, but probably not the one you're hoping for.

A chronological date and time of messages sent/received can be obtained for free for billed records online at verizonwireless.com by signing into your My Verizon account (you must be the account owner).
