If you use the Mobile IM app to access your AIM account, you will be charged text messages only. The ONLY MB charges that may apply are for the INITIAL download of the Mobile IM app. My phone came with it pre-installed - all usage beyond the initial download of Mobile IM is text.
If you are accessing AIM through the browser on the phone, it WILL count as MB usage. To avoid MB usage and only use your texting allowance, make sure you are using the Mobile IM app.
