Unfortunately, after spending considerable time with customer service and tecnical support, I was informed that I would not be able to send or receive normal picture messages without purchasing the data plan.
As a former Verizon employee myself, I understand that this is not the fault of the front-line representatives who attempted to assist me.
However, I am quite upset that by upgrading my phone and retaining the same service plan, I've actually been downgraded in service. When it was purchased a several weeks ago, before the data plan became required (and about which i was not informed) it was advertised as a "Messaging Phone."
