Hi,
The Backup Assistant would be the simplest way to do the transfer. Other than that, you could try bluetooth to transfer the files. Another possibility would be to MMS or email each contact from one device to the other. Another way would be to set up a Yahoo or Gmail account and transfer the contacts to Gmail with the old device, then transfer back to the new.
