I received my Nexus 6 from VZW in a box that states that the color is BLACK. It is Midnight Blue. As for Bloatware - there are 2 normal VZW apps that can be removed. My Verizon and Visual Voice Mail. Also are two apps without user interfaces, Backup and SprintDM that cannot be removed nor disabled. As for updates, we can only hope for the best.

I have followed Verizon on Twitter. I have been provided with false information from the Verizon Twitter account. The info I am referring to is in reference to the Galaxy Nexus. Why would I expect to get any correct information from that source regarding the Nexus 6?

Add me to the waiting list. :-) Seeing the Nexus 6 on other sites from carriers that will pay the ETF make me start considering leaving Verizon to get the Nexus 6. Then again, I have a Galaxy Nexus from VZW that has had NO UPDATE since date of purchase and none of the promises for updates from VZW via twitter, etc have manifested.
Just an FYI on those great specs, RespectableJoe: I read on the Moto site that the Nexus 6 has THREE GB RAM. We're chomping at the proverbial bit here, VZW.

I think that proves that it is only Verizon holding back this update from customers. Other carriers have it. Verizon can't give an estimate on date even. I seriously doubt that Verizon is dedicating any developer time to the device now. Seems to me that the bottom line is the last sentence in the article linked above: "... those who bought the Verizon Galaxy Nexus thinking it was a Nexus." I feel hoodwinked by VZW
Thanks, Ann for the education!!

The  Galaxy Nexus certainly CAN be unlocked.

Knock, knock!! Hello, Verizon? Anyone listening? Planning on updating us? Let me help you all out. According to http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/528523/20131209/samsung-galaxy-nexus-android-4-kitkat-custom.htm#.Uqn1XEAcbAQ When Google introduced the Android 4.4 KitKat update, the company confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Nexus reach the conclusion of its support life. The line will not receive an Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 update. Certainly, the primary reason why consumers purchase the Nexus devices is so they do not have to wait for the "official" updates and do it manually. The Galaxy Nexus is not far from this. Fortunately, there are custom ROM providers around. NO 4.3 for us according to Google. I do not think that VZW will update the device on their own! Let the weeping begin...
... Too bad that Isis Wallet is not supported by Verizon on our Galaxy Nexus devices ...

Nice! But, but, but ... How can they when the page https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mysid has not been updated to reflect that it is available? That's a half fast attempt at humor and poking fun at someone else. Seriously though, maybe there is hope for the Verizon flavor of the device. Even more serious. I would like to thank the members of this community for REALLY opening my eyes in the past month to Verizon's history, the device's history, and so many valuable sources of REAL information. I may be 'stuck' on 4.2.2, but the device is very sweet. Well, after the extended battery purchase. THANKS ALL and 'Appy 'Alloween. Maybe we will get a treat soon!
jtown, I got the G-Nex at best buy as part of their promo in which I guess they were cleaning out the old to make way for the new Samsung devices about to debut.

Thank you Customer Support for the links that are no longer valid. So, I have a Galaxy Nexus phone that is less than one month old and now I see that I was wrong in believing that I would get timely updates to the OS.  I have a new 2 yr contract of course. Tell me Customer Support, what phone should I have selected instead? Or do you have any USEFUL information relating to the GNex next OS upgrade? I would be happy even to hear that testing of 4.3 or 4.4 is planned at least.
That's it! We are getting an update next week and they don't want to spoil the surprise for us :-)

I was replying to a VZW Employee who had stated that the update may never occur. Since the update is available in the Toro flavor from Google now ... Add bloatware (Backup ass't, etc) and let 'er roll (out). The post I was replying to also said to check the main support site for info ... Didn't intend to ruffle feathers.
Oh it's available .... https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#torojwr66v The link  http://vz.to/znMW74 is certainly no help in finding out about it though
