I guess its more or less how they went about it. First I was told that it was an issue with my phone as they have towers all over this area of MD as we are between DC and Baltimore which are both focal points for 4G service. Then it was that I was in a marginal area of service. Just frustrating to be told to deal with it or give them more money to have signal. While wireless is an option for my smartphones on my plan my dumbphones are screwed. Just frustrating as all get out for me

Sadly that is true. I just haven't had the level of bad customer service with Verizon before. Typically I only have good things to say about them but I am not sure if this is the new way to do business or what but I am not a fan. Kinda the same reason the entire base is talking about switching our govt. phone service to another provider as well.

A little background is I have been a Verizon Wireless Client for over 9 years now. I first started with them while I was in the USAF as Alltel just wasn't cutting it anymore and I needed something more reliable. I have since moved all over the states before landing at Ft.Meade where I am now a govt civilian working for the Army. I have moved quite a few times now to about 6 different states and never had an issue until I got here to Maryland. I first noticed the signal was horrible when I first moved in so I called Verizon (September 2011) and put in a trouble ticket to have them survey the area and figure out what was going on. 3 months pass and I get an email saying my ticket was closed as my area was deemed a "marginal" service area and in such would not have good service. I was kinda floored at this reason to close my ticket so I called and was told that there was nothing they could do but for $250 they could sell me a range extender to help me out. All the while I carry 2 smartphones and 3 regular phones on my account which goes for a little over $200 a month; surely Verizon could see it fit to cut a long time customer a break on the price. I was wrong and have been going back and forth with Verizon for almost the past year over the network extender; I am a customer who spends $2400+ a year with this company on just service not to mention I am a gadget nerd so I buy at least a new phone a year to have the latest and greatest but yet they can seem to comp a $250 network extender as I was told "its against our business practice". While I can understand this why am i paying full price for only "marginal" service and if they know its marginal service why is the "Best and Fastest Network" in the US not doing something about making it the opposite of marginal? I decided to quit even talking to them today after talking to the 13th or 14th rep that told me that "$XXX" is the cheapest we can go but each number is different. One said $200, another said $150, another said $100 and others have said they don't discount them. It just frustrating having to find that hot spot in my area so I can use my work or personal phone as they are all Verizon as well and when brought to their attention I am told I live in a "marginal" service area. While I understand that I moved to a place; I never realized I needed to take a signal test before moving into a place as I thought Verizon was everywhere. All around me is 4G but my subdivision gets nothing. And given I don't live in a small area either. Its not the phones either. I have a Droid X, Nexus S, Iphone 4, OG Razr, and a samsung "dumbphone" tosser that cant get signal but when I go out of this area I get signal. I mean I figured that since I have the Ultimate Package with Fios and the top tier phone plan I would get better service then "marginal" at best. /Vent of Frustration <Moved from to the for more exposure.> Message was edited by: Verizon Moderator
