Adam, I have had similar issues with my Samsung Galaxy Tab and intermittent access/ hotspot and tethering since I purchased it in March 2011. It is 3G, it is fast enough for my needs, it just does not maintain a reliable data connection, never has. I would not recommend this service to anyone.
