Do a backup with BB Desktop Manager and then you can restore your BB settings (including your theme & icons) after you do an update. Btw, should always update your OS through your PC instead of OTA...you'll have less problems and it only takes about 1/3 of the time.

Upgrading OTA is always problematic. As suggested, download the OS to your PC and then load it to your BB. I doubt it is the OS causing the problem. Also, loading the OS via your PC will only take a fraction of the time it did OTA. Be sure to back up your settings with Desktop Manager and your 3rd party apps with BB Swiss Army Knife. Good Luck!
As long as there isn't any evidence of water damage or abuse, it should still be covered under warranty, if under a year, or insurance, if you signed up for that.

If you are beyond your contract, you are in the driver's seat! Might be time to be looking at a new device anyway...I plan to do that exact same thing this summer. I will make a list of what's important to me in a smartphone, then make a list of the different operating systems pluses and minuses, then make my choice. Good Luck!

Not sure how many times CaroSue has updated his/her OS, but it is not uncommon to have to use these programs to restore settings and 3rd party apps. It is a multi-step process. The easiest thing to do if you're not having problems with your BB is...don't update your OS. Many BB users go through the life of their BB with the original OS.

If it's not the BB and not the battery, I would suspect that there is something wrong with your OS (or maybe a 3rd party app). Try deleting your apps in the reverse order you loaded them until the problem is resolved. If you still have the problem, I would recommend you download the OS to your PC, back up all settings with BB Desktop Manager, back up all 3rd party apps with BB Swiss Army Knife, and reload your software via your PC. If you originally installed the OS via OTA, it usually causes problems. Good Luck!
You can hook up to DM and delete the Contacts/Address Book database and when your phone re-syncs you should only have single contacts. I had to do this with GMail sync a while back and it worked.

You really need to find a PC and install the OS that way. OTA and/or via DM is very problematic. When you go into email setup, you should only have to log into one email address...even if it asks you to log in to a 2d one, just escape out and when you go back in to email setup you will notice that they are all set up (except Gmail, if you use it to sync calendar or contacts).

Try going to the PC Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and delete BB DM, and the OS then reinstall them. If that doesn't work, delete them again and use a registry cleaner, such as CCleaner, to clean out the registry. I've had to do this in the past. Good Luck!
