I turned the device off and held down the shut down button for several seconds.  Not sure what this did but it worked.  Back up and running (whew!).

I have an older model iPad and when it indicated there was a software update, I accepted.  For two days now my iPad has been "Verifying Update" and it won't let me do anything; not even shut down... See more...
I have an older model iPad and when it indicated there was a software update, I accepted.  For two days now my iPad has been "Verifying Update" and it won't let me do anything; not even shut down.  What can I do?
