I found out the solution!!!  It's so unintuitive but apparently when you are in a trusted place, you want to swipe anywhere on the lock screen except the lock!  By habit/training I swipe the lock and I guess that serves to lock it in a trusted place. That's why it asks for my fingerprint.  If I swipe anywhere else on the screen, it opens!  I found this on another forum, where it looks like others were having the same issue I was. Now it works fine!

It sounds like your songs are not loaded on your phone, but you are accessing them on your pc using MotoCast.  The song names show up, but when you want to play them you get the message that your computer is offline.  In order to access them your computer must be online - not turned off or asleep.   You can go into Settings>General in the Motocast software on your pc and tell it to Prevent Computer from Going Asleep so your music is always available to you.

I just got an answer to this from a very nice Verizon employee named Ryan.  For anyone else who is interested, he said: The Share Name ID service allows your name to show a specific or customized name when calling another person. The directory the terms and conditions are referring to are databases that landline companies use to provide Caller ID service. Landlines and cell phones process Caller ID in different ways. When you call a cell phone, whatever that phone has your number saved is how it shows on the display. Landline phones do not typically have a locally stored address book, so they rely upon these databases to give a name to display. The directory that is being referenced are these databases, used solely for Caller ID. They are not publicly accessible and searchable like a White Pages. Opting in to Share Name ID will not override the CPNI opt out, they are two separate entities, and Verizon Wireless will not give your information to telemarketers. The only thing that will change with using Share Name ID is that your name(or whatever you choose) will show up whenever you call somebody instead of a generic "Wireless Caller" statement. Your privacy is still very much respected, and no alterations will be made.

Betty12 wrote: I can't get my Razr XT912 to zoon the screen, like on web pages. It seems like it tries to zoom but then snaps back to original. I checked the resize and unchecked it but it still does this. Can someone tell me what I am missing? This phone does have the ability to zoom with pinch/spread of your fingers doesn't it? If you're talking about browsing websites, it all depends.  Some sites support it but if you are at the mobile version of a site (often with an "m" in the URL e.g., m.cbsnews.com) it will not support zooming because it's already sized for a mobile device. You can try Dolphin Browser HD which, among other cool features, allows you to easily toggle between the mobile and full version of a site.

Also, how do I shut off the female voice saying "loss of service" when I power off the device? Thanks. I don't know about the Droid voice if you mean during bootup.   But the other I believe is Menu>Settings>Sound Settings and uncheck Roaming tone.

Nettytoo wrote: Is there a special function I must set up to have the music come through the headphones I just bought from the Verizon store? They are plugged in to the phone but the music is coming through the phone speaker and not the headphones. Help! If you are talking Bluetooth, be sure they support A2DP music profile. But it sounds like you are using wired ones since you speak of them being plugged in. Is this happening with more than one program?  I'm trying to make sure it's not a software issue. If it is,  I would reboot - it covers a multitude of issues.  Just turn it off and on again. Still no joy, look into the jack with a flashlight. It should not be white.  It should be dark or you'll see a metal connector.  I had it happen to me once where a piece of pocket lint got pushed down there and the headphone could not make a proper connection.   If this is the case you must be very cautious as it's easy to break the fragile metal connectors. Don't just go digging around in there.  What my husband did was use a very fine drill bit (hand held, of course! ) and gently twirl it so the lint spun up on it.  Then he could pull it out. Good luck!

From Motorola's support site: Note: A software update is now rolling out, and includes enhancements in HotSpot performance and more. Click here for full details You can make your smartphone a Wi-Fi hotspot to provide portable, convenient internet access to other Wi-Fi enabled devices. Caution: This application significantly impacts battery life. You may want to run this application with the charger connected. Note: You need to subscribe to Wi-Fi hotspot service to use this feature. Contact your service provider. To set up your smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot: Turn off Wi-Fi power by touching Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi. From the home screen, touch Apps  > Mobile Hotspot > Mobile Hotspot to turn on the hotspot. Touch Configure Mobile Hotspot to change hotspot security and configuration settings: • Network SSID—Enter a unique name for your hotspot and touch Next • Security—Select the type of security you want, and touch Save: WEP, WPA, or WPA2. Enter a unique password. Other users can access your Wi-Fi hotspot only if they enter the correct password. Note: Keep it secure. To protect your phone and hotspot from unauthorized access, it is strongly recommended that you set up hotspot Security (WPA2 is the most secure), including password. • Broadcast Channel—Select a channel that minimizes potential interference. You may need to try different channels after your hotspot is active for a time. Touch Save when the settings are complete. When your Wi-Fi hotspot is active, other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect by entering your hotspot’s SSID, selecting a Security type, and entering the correct Wireless password. When your Wi-Fi hotspot is active, other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect by entering your hotspot’s SSID, selecting a Security type, and entering the correct Wireless password. Troubleshooting tips:Cannot access certain web sites using computer browserIf you're unable to connect to certain sites, try performing a force reboot. If that doesn't work try using a different browser such as Firefox, Internet explorer or Google chrome. Ensure the browser version is up to date. When other devices can't connect to your deviceObtain the MAC addressTo obtain the MAC address: Press the Menu key from the Home Screen. Tap Settings. Tap About Phone. Tap Status and scroll to Wi-Fi Mac address. Wireless Lan Supported Specs (Mobile hotspots) Open (unsecured) WPA2 PSK (secured) Unable to establish connection with the phone The wireless network may not be in range or has too of a weak signal to provide a successful connection. Check the signal bar to ensure you have strong connection. Re-enter the key on the device to match the key configured on your phone. Make sure that the encryption type and security settings match on the device and your phone. If WPA2 PSK encryption is in use, check that the key configured on the device matches the key entered on the phone. "Forget" the connection. This will clear the connection and allow you to reinitialize with the your phone. Turn off the connection from your device, turn the phone connection off. Turn back on your device first, then wait for 1 minute and then turn on and enable your hotspot to your phone. Connection keeps dropping Make sure your WiFi sleep policy isn't timing out prematurely on your device. (Found under the Mobile Hotspotsettings > Inactivity timeout)                                                                                                               Wi-Fi sleep policy maybe set to: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes, or Never Turn-Off; try using NeverTurn-Off, to prevent your connection from dropping (May incur high data charges and overages) If the solutions above did not help, click here to chat with one of our Android specialists.

You're not looking for domain names, you're looking for wifi networks.  Go to Menu>Settings>Wireless & Network Settings. Click on Wi-fi settings.  Is Notify me when wifi is available checked?  If it's a Secure or Open Network, are those checked?  You may need to talk to your IT department for password or other information.  But first I would review the Network section of the manual which starts on page 44 of the Razr manual here.

So my Question to Other Razr an Razr Maxx owners are you seeing the same thing on your Device When you turn it On say after charging the Battery. You can really see it if the room your in is totally dark. What i am wondering is.. Is this part of the Animation or is this an indication there's a problem with the Screen. An this is the Only time i am Seeing these spots on the screen You are not alone and it's not an indication of a problem, as tidbits posted. It has been discussed on various forum, including the Motorola Droid Razr forum. Matt, the moderator for the Motorola forum wrote this about it: The Droid RAZR display uses a new high efficiency OLED material. These screens may in some cases exhibit slightly darker regions, like you've noticed. Because the darker regions are only visible when viewing the black screen in a very dark environment, they will not interfere with general use. Most importantly, they don't change over time and are typical for this generation of OLED material. They in no way indicate a problem or defective screen.
Don't know of any way to retrieve things from a trash (if it exists, as such) but you can add what you deleted. It is a widget, and called Favorites Contact.

If you have entered the incorrect settings or need to change your email/account ID, you will need to perform a factory data reset on the device. NOTE: You will lose all your data when you do a factory reset.  So be sure you backup what you need to a SD card, turn off your phone and remove the card before you proceed. This is how you do a factory reset.

Some stores - like Costco - have their own return policy.  But Verizon's policy here says: Wireless Device/Accessory Return Policy You may return or exchange wireless devices and accessories purchased from Verizon Wireless within 14 days of purchase. A restocking fee of $35 ($70 for netbooks and tablets) applies to any return or exchange of a wireless device (excluding Hawaii). This return and exchange policy does not apply to customers who have purchased a Prepaid Plan. Exchange New Merchandise You are permitted to make one exchange. To make an exchange, return the merchandise (including device, charger, battery, instructions, and any other components) in the ORIGINAL box. All merchandise must be in like-new condition and accompanied by the original receipt. Shipping charges may apply to exchange merchandise sent to you by Verizon Wireless. There's more information if you follow the link, but that gives you the overview of it.

My phone's notification light will be white when the charge is low and then turns green before 100%.  Your 90% sounds about right although I've never really checked it.  If I want to know if it's fully charged I turn on the screen and look at my battery indicator.  Both Circle Battery and Battery Indicator Pro (which is what I use, with the 1% hack enabled) will give you a battery read out in your notification bar in 1% increments.  So it's not a problem, just the way the notification light works. As to whether to have the phone on or off, there's no right way.  With it off - and no parasitic drain - it will charge faster. But obviously you will miss incoming calls or text. How much faster it would charge would depend on if you were actively using it or it was just sitting there passively.  Also charging it via outlet as opposed to the usb on your pc will make a difference.  I would recommend plugging it into a wall outlet instead of your computer as I've read that works faster.  I usually leave mine on when charging - although I tend to turn it off and on about once a day just to have a fresh boot.  Not sure if that helps performance or not, but it seems I don't have glitches others often complain of so I just do it.
