This is an on-going issue with the new update and I can only tell you to try doing a System cache wipe as this "may ?" help. If not do a FDR before you reinstall 5.0 again.

This is a known issue with the LP update program and  no fix has been released yet. A factory reset of your device may help in the short term followed with a new download of Lollipop.
I have not seen any official release of if or when this may happen.
This has been reported on some other blog sites I recall seeing and the quick fix was to disable your lock screen.
Return the phone to Verizon for a replacement as soon as possible.

Keep your screen lighting to no higher than 20-25% and do a normal reboot again. Next try to rebuild your battery by doing the following:     Li-ion batteries needs to have a rebuild charge from time to time. Give this a try, Do a full 6-8 hour charge with device in sleep mode, next run it down to about 45-50 % and then a 4-5 hour charge. After that use your device and take it down to 30%. Another 6-8 hour charge and then down to no lower then 20-25% and one more full 8 hour charge. At that point your battery should be rebuilt back to a normal life cycle. This should eliminate a short battery life if all is working normal.
preset at 30 sec. by software.
No they will not re-flash software from any outside source.

I would again recheck all of those settings and if necessary do a backup of the phone minus the apps and then a Hard Reset.   HTC 8X hard reset

The Verizon data stream is required to activate and your are now outside there North American Network System. You could try calling there Global Network service number, but your best move would be to purchase a low cost phone from a local phone store. Out side USA call, After the tone, enter your Verizon Wireless calling card number and PIN. 3. After the tone enter 0-908-559-4899. 4. The Verizon Wireless Global Roaming Hotline will then prompt you to enter your 10-digit mobile number.          USA only,  Customers may call (800) 711-8300 to speak to a Global Services Activation Specialist

From your posting I see you did the FDR but I would do this again but in a somewhat different way. When doing the FDR  it sometimes leave behind stray bits of bad file codes, so you need to do a system wipe clear twice before doing the FDR. This should clear out bad files and bring your phone back close to norm.

Shut down your message app and clear both cache and data , next reboot  phone. When phone powers on go to your device apps manager and restart your message app and setup. If message app is no longer on the main screen it will be necessary to go to your  apps icon on the screen and long press, drag and drop the icon back on the screen. Also check to be sure data is turned on. This should restore you message service if you have no other problems.
Yes you do have a defective phone and it should be return to Verizon for a replacement or LG for service or replacement. This is not normal operation for the Enact.
