When I open voicemail I get an annoying "Wait" symbol that tells me it is checking the status of my account.  This usually takes between 15 and 45 seconds to clear.  Then I get an offer to sign up for Visual Voicemail for "only" $2.99 per month.  I don't want it, I won't buy it, and I resent having to wait for this message to come up every time I try to access my voicemail.  How do I get rid of it?  If Verizon Wireless respects me as a customer, it will stop abusing me with obnoxious marketing ploys.
