Unfortunately a competent attorney will only sue for actual factual damages incurred by his client. You won't get extra damages. Small claims is actual money loss up to a limit. I think $5000 in my city. State supreme court handles cases of wrong doing such as contract disputes, or wrongful acts on Verizons part. (Such as making you personally be in a sub contract with conditions you cannot meet or meet with hardship)

In the old days of class actions if Verizon was putting phantom charges on everyones bills or selling a good or service in bad faith then the class action got you the customer about $10 in store credit, and the gazillion dollars went to lawyers as their fee. But verizon simply raised their rates to recoup the money or credits paid out. The only winners are the lawyers and funny as it may seem Verizon!

Don't forget Verizon made millions before the class action, they did not give the money back but what they took in was far greater than what they paid out after the court case. And these cases drag on for years in the courts.
