Yep all carriers don't claim 100% uptime all the time. Stuff happens and some buildings built are not cellular friendly. Glass for example polished from lead vs cut with diamond. One is cheaper than the other and one is friendly to signal and the other isn't. Insulation is another factor. Brick vs concrete. List goes on and on and that's why they don't guarantee coverage in building.

There is no such thing as customer loyalty. It's a marketing ploy that consumers want and feel wanted. If there was a place that was cheaper and better you'd switch in a heart beat. I would too. Where's the loyalty then?

This is really amazing story! I read from beginning to end.

Our government has resolved a private citizen cell phone problem, and MADE the VZW to give you a Samsung Galaxy S3. WOW!!! Assuming that the complaint was filed on 7/30, the whole thing took only 8 business days for FCC to solve the problem!!!

I am not a little boy, but with your experience I would like to seek advice from you whether it is better to start working in sale, or is it better to start college.

Verizon became a company in 2001, so they bought your account. I've been with my electric company for 10 years myself.

SERVICE companies don't rely on loality, they rely.. oh on service.

It's a cellphone, it uses RF to send signals. EVERY carrier has the same service level agreement.

Inside your house is not covered, it never has been.

It is mind boggling how uninformed american consumers are at times

Yes, you're correct. They did buy the account from the previous carrier. But I have to disagree with you. When my phone has always worked inside my house in the past, and then after an upgrade it magically doesn't, that isn't my fault. Now, had Verizon said to me at the time of my upgrade that with the new device I may experience some reception issues due to the differences between my current phone and the upgraded model, I may have reconsidered and walked away while it was still free of charge to do so. Now I'm in a more difficult position. But it's all good. I'll figure something out. I'm not misinformed at all, my friend. I expect a certain level of service. When that level of service (coverage, not customer service) changes, I have the right to ask questions and try and figure out what has changed and why things are now different. My bill has increased in dollar amount since the upgrade, my unlimited data plan was taken away, and I've been through three phones. At one point I was without a cell for 3 weeks while they processed the return of the iPhone 4S and then sent me out the Galaxy S3. All the while I have paid the bill on time as I always do without any complaining. I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable here. I need a cell that works indoors and out. If that's a problem for Verizon, or somehow doesn't fall within the parameters of what they're capable of, then we both need to move on. I'm just not sure why I have to be the only one to pay to do so.

Weird. Interesting.

Why do we suddenly having a problem with a signal? After an ‘upgrade’ to a new phone I expected that I would have a better signal than it was on my old.

My four (4) previous phones always worked fine from my house without any signal issue. I had at least 2-3 strokes. When I came home from the VZW store with my first Samsung Intensity III, I hardly noticed 1 stroke and I had drop calls while on the phone.

I spent hours with VZW tech support. After two days I was told that the signal is weak because my area does not have full coverage. When I asked if four days ago was a different coverage than is today – the answer of course was NO. So then I asked why I had a bad reception on the new phone when I had great reception, from the same location, on my old-dying phone? The answer was: it could be a problem with the new phone. I was advised to exchange the phone in the VZW store.

The second phone, in addition to the reception issue, had almost dead battery, cracking sound and windy noise in the background. Again, I spent hours with VZW tech support, which ended…. I was advised to go to the store and exchange the phone.

So, I came home with the third phone. The battery was okay, the voice was not bad, the reception was bad, as it was bad on the first device – only one stroke.

Because I spent so much time on this “upgrade” and the other issues did not show on this phone, I just gave up on the weak signal issue. I could not do this anymore.

I am planning to start a new discussion only about the weak signal on new devices after an upgrade. Just to see if others have the same problem.

Sounds like business as usual with Verizon to me. Worst customer service of any company I've ever been with. I've been a customer with them for 13 years and I can't believe they won't grandfather me in to my unlimited data plan unless I jump through their hoops. They take their customers for granted! I'm counting down the days until my contract is up.

As a consumer no one can talk you into anything.

You agreed for 2 years of service, after the 14 days you are obligated.

What is even the problem with the phone? You sound in your late 50s and maybe the phone is too much for you, i'm sure we can help with that
