Is Extended Coverage the same as roaming?

I work in a R&D lab outside of Richmond, VA.  When I'm in the lab, I have signal but it has the little icon for extended coverage.  I was curious if I would be charged extra for making/receiving calls while this occurs.  There is wifi here but it seems my phone won't make a wifi call.  Because of the wifi, i'm not worried about data charges, just while making calls.

Great question, roaming and extended coverage are similar in the fact that you may not be on Verizon Wireless towers. However, unless you have a really outdated plan where you were only allowed usage in a specific region or area you will not be charged for domestic roaming or usage in an extended coverage area. All of our current plans include nationwide coverage so you will not be charged anything extra for using your phone in one of these areas. Just to ensure we provide you with accurate information, what plan (exactly) are you on now?
