I have multiple lines on my Verizon account and the bill is over $500 a month. I just can’t afford it anymore. I’m wondering if I switch to a prepaid carrier,  and I do not transfer my numbers-what options do I have to pay my past due bill and pay off my devices over time. Also, should I call Verizon and cancel service right away so that I don’t keep getting billed for services? I really love Verizon service but it’s so expensive.

If your bill is over $500, that's not on service alone. If we're comparing Verizon to other major carriers (except Sprint since they're desperately cheap and getting bought by TMobile) actual service per number of lines isn't that different.

If you don't mind paying up front with lowest service priority, then prepaid could work. Disconnecting your service will cause a forced buyout on what you still owe.
