Why are new phone deals terrible for customers??

I am extremely frustrated that Verizon doesn't accommodate their long term , dedicated customers. All phone deals are for new line, or new customer. I have been a customer of verizon for over twenty years and this is starting to rub me raw. It is outrageous that current customers don't receive any deals. In the business world you would assume that your customers are like gold, you are successful because of them. Then you shouldn't mess with them over year after year and drive them away by catering to all outside potential customers.

You're only focusing on one type of deal and not all the others. There are deals that get so much of retail just because and others have a trade in requirement.

BOGO deals aren't even exclusive to new customer. If someone had an account with Verizon for years and just started a family, guess what? They would add a new line and can get that promotion.

The other carriers have the same or similar requirements and their loyal customers make the very same complaint.

Exactly. Leaving Verizon for another carrier will eventually lead to being a loyal T-Mobile customer making a complaint on their support boards about how it isn't fair there are promotions aimed at new customers.

This is not just a Verizon practice, let alone a cell phone practice.  Home phone, internet, and cable generally do the same thing.  You get a certain rate for the first year, then after that the price increases.  Just go to DirecTV.com or dish network and the first thing you see is "29.99" and then in small little letters "for the first year"

And loyalty rewards aren't really a thing.  Your local supermarket doesn't give you a gallon of milk cheaper because you have always shopped there.  Its a consumer product, they will always be battling for new customers so that is where the deal is.
