Verizon will keep their call centers open on Christmas and force some employees to work!

Its very anti-Christian and they should be more accommodating to Christians.

Hate to say it but they should do like all the "best" companies do and "close".

Yep, shut down the call center and leave a message that they are closed for their employees to be with their families!

Even the Government closes!

Or at least give them a choice if they want to work and scale down the availability.

Any one want to chime in? I just want "them" to know it is wrong. They should act more like Chick-Fil-A, and Costco and many others who don't stay open on holidays!

AND, I don't care if they do it for other holidays!

We don't need to be able to get to the call center 24/7!

This is NOT a good reason. The government closes for ALL holidays which end with the letter "y". The government does not have a problem with finding a reason to close. For the record, the government NEVER closes completely. There are several portions which are ALWAYS open. Police, Fire, air traffic control are some examples. There are COUNTLESS other occupations which are required to work on holidays.

As to whether or not Verizon closes, that is a company decision and I feel it is their right to make that decision.

Regardless, have a Merry Christmas.Smiley Happy

The call centers are not an essential service.

Yes they can stay open. I wonder how many of the top execs are working?

They should at least give them a choice and reduce the availability accordingly.

Do you REALLY need to talk to the call center on Christmas?

I don't want to do ANYTHING on Christmas, except be with my family and God.

Um, I am pretty sure it's called "Request Time Off" if is so important to have and pretty sure like most jobs you can submit it months ahead of time. So if they close for Christmas, they have to close for Hanukkah, Kwanza etc right or they would be "Anti" those beliefs. I am sorry that some relative of yours has to work on Christmas (the only reason to prompt a post like that) but unfortunately they will have to put on their big boy pants and do what needs to be done to make a living or submit the correct form for time off in a timely fashion. Plus you realize that call centers are actually really needed on Christmas for all the people who don't simply read the instruction of a product (in this case new phone activation) and need to call in to have it done for them. Welcome to the working life of modern America. Merry Christmas.

Yes it is a relative and no they did not have a choice. There was no form or request for time off. Long time employee too. And yes they will just have to go to work, at 5:55 am for 8 hours too.

Again, scale it down as needed.

Yes some people do not know how to turn on their "new" phones. I still say wait until tomorrow.

On another note, I have another "friend" who owns and runs a McDonald's. Corporate wants them to stay open for Christmas too. But in this case my friend told them "too bad, we are closing".

Even Scrooge had an epiphany!

Never heard of a company that does not have a request time off system, sounds illegalish. Verizon uses American 3rd Party Call centers for their Customer Services agents. I would have your family member reconsider employment with their third party, because the lack of that system will be on them and not Verizon. As far as your McDs friend, while I understand his position, I do feel bad for any workers who are working on Christmas that now will likely have a hard time finding places open on their lunch. For some of us, the world does not stop turning on Christmas, nor do we have the luxury to worry whether we have Christmas off because of the need of money to pay bills. Personally I will be working Christmas by choice and making some extra money with time and a half Holiday Hours ( also normally offered by most companys as compensation for working holidays. ) So while you say Anti-Christian, I say Pro-Working Man. I am sorry your family member got caught in limbo, but we all have a choice in where we work, so to just blatantly say a Company is Anti-Christian is rather shortsighted and harsh.

I use it for other sites too.

Vegas is not just gambling, there are great restaurants and incredible shows too.

Do agree that there is a good dose of sinning there too.

And are those casinos/shows/restaurants open on Christmas??? Seems that a call center is more essential than ANYTHING in Las Vegas.
