What is myverizon44.com?

I just got a phone call from 800 922 2556 claiming that I got a $44 credit on my next bill and that all I had to do was log into myverizon44.com to claim it.

This sounds fishy (in both senses) to me. Is this a legitimate Verizon thing, or someone trying to break into my wireless account?

I suspected as much. Does Verizon know, and if so, why aren't they trying to protect their customers?

What are they supposed to do? These scammers probably have HUNDREDS of websites already ready and waiting. Shut down myverizon44.com and myverizon45.com goes up. Shut that down then myverizon46.com goes up etc etc. Customers can protect themselves but not falling for something so obviously fake. People are so anxious to save a few bucks common sense goes right out the window. Seriously does going to any other site besides the normal Verizon Wireless site make sense? Why would Verizon call you and tell you to go to some other website why not just tell you on your bill? And what would be the purpose of any of it anyway?

Seems to me that Verizon could do more to protect THEIR name AND THEIR CUSTOMERS.  I wonder how many thousands of people have logged into the site?  IT IS A SCAM.  So someone marks this thread as ANSWERED.  That is not responding to the threat to your customers.

First as you pointed out that website just went live 3 days ago. And if it's shut down another one will be created within minutes. Second the person that marked this question as answered was the person that started the thread. Thirdly this is a customer to customer forum not a customer service forum. If you think Verizon can respond to these things within minutes or hours of them going live you clearly do not know how the internet works. Trust me Verizon would rather things like this not exist. I can guarantee you that there are versions of this for at&t, sprint and t-mobile too.
