Yes you need to to be in your native home area to activate a phone. You could conceivably manually enter all the info into the phone if you could get your hands on it, but that is a ton of info.

 

 

So there is a way to activate the phone out side of US? Although it is a bit complicated?

You'd be way better having a tech walk you through all the steps manually if its even possible. You should get the rumored Droid2 World Phone dropping later this month or next. If you jump countries that much?
