if your desktop computer does not have wifi, an easy solution is to buy a USB wifi adapter for the desktop.

if you prefer to hard wire the desktop, you may want to look at one of the cradlepoint routers like the MBR1000.

you could tether the MiFi to the MBR1000 which would provide you with ethernet ports and much larger WiFi N range.
