cracked BB Storm screen

My apologies if this is posted...I'm new to the forum and did a search but was unable to find a topic.

The screen on my BB Storm is cracked. The phone functions so right now, this appears to be cosmetic. I would like to get the screen replaced though.

Can anyone recommend an authorized service repair outlet in the Seattle, WA area where I can take my device for repairs?

I should add that the device is not insured and this would not be a warranty issue.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Repaired? I don't think it can actually be repaired. You'll have to completely replace it. Even if you don't have insurance VZW will replace it for you for a $50 fee. You'll need to call Customer Service for this type of replacement.

$50.00 without the insurance????  Since When?? It's always been $50.00 with the Ins. Without FULL price. That's why they sell the Ins! If what you say is true, everybody wouldn't buy the ins.

VZW has always been able to replace a cracked screen for $50. That's only if you have a cracked screen. It won't work for any other sort of damage or lost/stolen.

This information has been given/proven/documented in this forum somewhere. I've answered this question a few times.

Too bad you can't find any verification on the web.(I searched)  I don't buy it. Would have to see it to believe it. Even Verizon's own replacement policies state the need for Ins. After the initial warranty. If what you state is true, Why pay for the Ins? Wendy where are you we need Verification!

is correct. Of course VZW won't put that policy out there for you to see! If they did, then everybody would be cracking their screens when they had no other replacement option. This is just one of the reasons why customers love VZW and vote it the best carrier in 26 major markets in the US by Consumer Reports.

That's okay MacDaddy, you don't have to buy anything. I wasn't selling anything. The knowledge I give is free. Besides do you really think I would be ranked this high, with as many accepted solutions as I have if I was giving out bad information?

You should still pay for insurance because the $50 fee doesn't cover any other type of damage or Lost/Stolen. Only insurance covers that.

VZW has many under the counter policys, procedures and plans that you'll never see advertised. That's the nature of the business.

nmchileman, thanks.

By repair I did mean replacement of the screen. Crack can't be "repaired", only replaced.

I did stop by a Verizon outlet and they weren't helpful. Possibly I need to contact the phone customer service. They may end up telling me to take the device to an authorized service provider, hence my OP.

I'll make some calls tomorrow and let you know what I find out.

In the meantime, if anyone knows of a reputable, authorized service outfit in my area (Seattle), I'd appreciate the info.

Sorry to hear the store wasn't very helpful. Definitely call Customer Care at 800-922-0204 or *611 to discuss replacement options. As mentioned here previously, there are no repairs on cell phones -- certainly not authorized by VZW or RIM (Blackberry). The labor costs alone and the complexity of the circuit boards and chips make it cost prohibitive. Yes, the store may replace a trackball from time to time, but that's the extent of repairs you can expect on a cell phone.

and once you do get that fixed I highly recomend getting the Otter Box for the storm.  If your that rough on a phone it couldve prevented the problem.  I work construction and have had several and they really do work well.  I just ordered one for my new storm, should be here this week
