Your best bet would be to get an older phone and activate it on your line.  I know I have 2 or 3 sitting in drawers collecting dust.  Someone you know must have an old Verizon phone you can borrow to activate and get the text message.

I don't use Verizon messages but I though you could log into the Verizon website and read every text message that gets sent to your number.
