very possible... When there was like 1 then 2 years later there is an 34 of them.  right there a 330% increase. Depends when and how you look at the numbers.

With Windows Phone 7 with a small market share most crooks won't bother with WP7 until they gain market share.  Much like the Apple OS vs. Windows debates.

not sure about different versions......but moto (as well as  lg, htc, samsung, etc) lay their own skin over the OS so the UI is much different from one manufacturer to the next. i believe though, that a particular version of the OS is that same from one device to the other. many fell that this is a drawback. to me, it is precisely why i prefer android. if you don't care for the UI of a samsung, there's plenty of others to choose from. if i get bored with my device, i flash a new rom and it's like having a brand new phone for a while.

Granted WP7 is the new kid on the block, but IPhone's been out a lot longer and more popular than Andriod and still doesn't have anywhere close to the number of applications that have malware.

There is a slight difference between Andriod and iOS/WP7 in regards to applications.  Apple and Microsoft perform some sort of code review to catch malware in the submitted applications before they are available on their respective marketplace along with implementing a walled garden.  Whereas Google doesn't have a walled garden for their apps and didn't do any sort of code review for the apps in the markeplace until later last year for anything malicious, http://www.zdnet.com.au/google-scans-android-apps-for-malware-339330965.htm.  The only question is how far will Google go to prevent malware.  I know when installing applications; during the installation process the application can go to the internet and download more modules that have the malware bytes...

Unless Google implements a walled garden approach for offering application; which will goes against openness there always will be malware on Andriod devices.

That's the biggest problem. MS and Apple took the right approach. I do agree the "walled garden" is a better approach. Google listened to their customers where the choice is yours and a lot of people back then felt a walled garden is evil and a hassle.

carriers will need to address the devices they sell in the next 2-3 years as they'll cut into and drain profits significantly at a time they NEED to heavily invest in their network. iPhone (subsidy by carriers to Apple) drained profits for Verizon, Sprint and at&t last quarter.

likewise android will be like wm6 in the return, failure (due to buggy or worse software) and now add malware to the mix.

it's a shame verizon can't get on board with WP7 before WP8, they stand to gain dramatically both short term and long with both mango and apollo/8 (later this fall)

The Trophy is rated (VZW online store) second against any Blackberry device and the 9930 was released sometime in August of last year while the Trophy was released in March of last year.  What's weird is that the Trophy has been reviewed by 892 customers and 1759 Likes on Facebook whereas the 9930 been reviewed by 1 person and no Likes on Facebook.  So it looks like the Trophy is better reviewed then the 9930

Any the Trophy is coming in at 4th (3rd place if you don't count the bundle) place against all Andriod devices and the Trophy is about a year old.  Holding up well isn't it Smiley Happy  It's possible that being there is such a huge saturation of Andriod devices that it's a skewed result but still it pretty impressive.

Looking at the numbers, the Trophy has the most reviews, 892 than the Razar Maxx (231) and the Rezound (402).  But the Razar Maxx and the Rezound have more Facebook Likes than the Trophy...

Comparing against an iPhone is a loosing battle for now.

but i don't believe it sold well at all. if it came out about a year ago then you could compare sales to the tbolt, charge, incredible 2, X2, and a few others and i'm guessing it is dead last in total sales, which is what verizon cares about. it may be superior to all of those devices??? but if it doesn't sell, then verizon is not going to concern themselves much with it.

When the Trophy was first release it sold out.  Now that could mean that there was enough of a demand for the device or VZW only stocked a few hundred...

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/05/verizon-htc-trophy-sold-out-in-a-few-hours/

http://www.wpcentral.com/verizon-trophy-already-sold-out-online

It's a dead sales now with newer devices that were released or people like me that held out waiting for better device than the Trophy and didn't buy one when if first came out.  The other issue is the brick-and-mortar stores treated the phone like the evil redheaded stepchild.  That is both VZW and MS fault.  Now MS/Nokia is paying (or soon will be) paying commissions on the sale of WP devices but that's not going to make VZW jump on the bandwagon.

sales are based on CARRIER advertising  and in-store promotion.

VZW has refused to do both for WP7, despite the fact that the Trophy is one of the highest rated devices as shown above.
