reimbursement for Sprint to Verizon, new customer

Had to purchase a new smartphone, I switched from sprint to verizon, my iPhone 6s (I own it) was supposed to be usuale with the verizon network but the SIM card would not sync with the phone, how do i get reimbursed for this mixup? Theres a 40$ upgrade fee that a verizon manager told me I have the right to get reimbursed for. how do I get this done?

If you have never had a phone from Verizon on your account and you are porting a number from Sprint there will NOT be a $40 upgrade fee.
You will get charged a $40 activation fee but you would have gotten this charge even if your old phone worked.
