Yeah, that is what I heard while awaiting the clueless Verizon customer service rep to get on the line. And they are towing the company line in customer dis-service the the mantra --- "Duh, they gave them the documents they were supposed to give them...." My response was ---- "I WANT THE NAME OF THE JACKWAGON AT VERIZON THAT ELECTED NOT TO TELL US !!!!!!!!!!!!!" And I still want that name as we speak and will keep demanding if of Verizon.
From another post, this link was given with all sorts of names and numbers to call: http://news.verizonwireless.com/contacts/
Get busy folks, and let's melt their phone lines down.
A good "corporate citizen" would have done all they could to inform their customer base of this breach of their privacy --- unless they are in bed with B.Hussein.O, which I suspect they are ----- just like the jack-booted thugs at the IRS.
QUESTION ----- could this be a breach of contract on Verizon's part? Thus should we not be allowed to close out our accounts without the expected $175 early termination charge?
Verizon, like all carriers since 2006, complying with a law should let you out of your contract because you bought a subsidized phone?
You call customer service about an issue that the top corporate people haven't even ackwledged? That's like going through the drive through at chi-fill a and getting mad they don't like gay people...
I'm sure your metadata isn't all that exciting
Yeah this is nothing new, its just like the government issuing a search warrant, VZW is obligated to comply because we all know what happens when they knock on your door with a warrant and you say go away...They bring down the door and come in anyway, this is the same concept
Our government subpoenas companies all the time for any number of reasons, the FBI, the NSA, the TSA, the CIA, even your local judicial system can issue a warrant for the search and seizure of records, areas (i.e. businesses, property), and even inanimate objects that they consider party to an investigation or evidence...I dont think that when a certain energy company was investigated and records were requested that it was attached to any specific name. That being said the situations are different as one was an investigation and the other just seems to be a broad trace for terrorists, Still it makes one wonder what the real purpose behind this is and I hope/pray that it is just that, that they are following up on a possible lead to prevent a terrorist attack.
And there was a warrant, the document can be found circumventing the internet at this point I am assuming, unless this entire thing is just a hoax and that was not a real document...
USA today says it was a secret order
Our Fourth amendment states
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Right and I agree with you completely. however, the problem is this: the same people who would ultimately use this for whatever reason, are also the people who will be deciding what is probable cause and what is reasonable. If this whole thing saved the lives of 1, 2, 3000, or even more people and prevented a terrorist attack or stopped a cyber-criminal from stealing the credit information of millions, would it not then be justified? Or do you believe that this is some sort of other type of scam from the government to prevent crime? Metadata doesn't include any details of anything that has been done, strictly numbers, data session initiation times and end times, SMS records of the same numbers texted or texts received. My curiosity peaks at the true nature of this.
I think this is a scam because this is only being done to Loyal Verizon customers ..... NOT ATT NOT SPRINT OR T-MOBILE. AND ANY OTHER CELL PHONE CARRIER THAT I KNOW OF I'm not paying a high amount of bill so Vzw can just Forward my information to the government so if this come true they better give me credits or allow me to leave
Government Codename "Prism" now is monitoring all of your online activity on Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Microsoft Cloud and apps. and tracking your searching patterns browsing patterns and things you are posting. Verizon, Sprint and AT&T are targeted as well!! This has now gone too far! This President has overstepped his boundaries. This violates our 4th Amendment Rights
