preorder iphone 6 arrived - can we trade in old iphone at Verizon store?

Good morning. I went to my local Verizon store to preorder the Iphone 6 for my son who is in college. He has received the phone and is activating it today. Can he bring both his old iphone and new phone to the Verizon store near campus to get the $200 trade in gift card? His old Iphone 4s is in excellent condition.
