does hotspot allowance go against 22gb

I have been having issues with my hotspot. It either doesn't work or its not tracking my data usage under hotspot. Instead its going against my 22gb of phone data. I have been talking to Verizon and he was supposed to call me back but hasn't yet. He told me it didn't matter where it went as it counts towards your 22 gb and its could slower your speeds if there is network congestion. According to my phone I have used 8.5gb and when I click on data usage it says I have used 5.75gb of hotspot and tethering data. When I look at my Verizon it says I have used 9.15gb and 0 of my hotspot data. So what is the deal? Also my hotspot is so slow it wont even open up a webpage. If I open up a website on my phone its no problem but on my computer I could wait 20 minutes and the page is only half loaded. I'm so ready to go back to Sprint again. Now I know why I left Verizon before

did you made sure in your phone your billing date setting same as your actual bill date ....like sep 2 to oct 1 .

in your phone you may want to look at it and it even say your carrier data can be different that what you seeing on your phone.

22gb is mobile data you can use before it can be slow down but 10gb be high speed then it be 600kbps and no one can make it faster than that .

more detail you can get @vzw.com/plan

if you left V already and left sprint and now you want to go back to sprint that's your choice.

The dates are correct. The problem is I have used 6 or 7 gb of hotspot and my verizon says 0 but my phone data is a lot higher than it should be because of it

naansalad Well I according to Verizon your hotspot data will count towards your 22gb that may slow you down. Here is what they responded with which is a little confusing

Yes, it's true that mobile hotspot usage does count towards your 22 GB threshold for the line. For example, let's say that you've used 15 GB of mobile hotspot and 7 GB of general data usage, then you would reach the 22 GB and be subject to deprioritization based on the additional qualifications. Alternatively, if you've used 22 GB of general data, you would still be subject to deprioritization; however you're still guaranteed 15 GB of 4G speeds with your mobile hotspot. Does this clear up the details?

It's more than confusing, it's deceptive marketing. Having 3 different "Unlimited" plans rendering the term UNLIMITED useless by any reasonable person's standards aside... 1. They know advertising a de-prioritization cap at 22GB with 15GB of mobile hotspot (or 75GB/20GB) comes across as "I can use 22GB of data from my phone and 15GB from another device via hotspot before I have to worry about being throttled." to 99% of customers. 2. Data is data. Verizon shouldn't care how we use it. Phone usage or hotspot usage all costs them the same.

I've filed a complaint with the FTC and urge everyone else to do so as well - FTC Complaint Assistant. Though I know it won't amount to anything, sadly it's the only option we have.

TL;DR

Don't use ANY hotspot data until you've hit your soft cap and you're being throttled. That's the only way Verizon's marketing rings true.
