broken phone, early upgrade

i currently have a smartphone, my NE2 is in August. My current phone has a cracked screen and is hardly working. In order to get a replacement through the insurance it is $100. I would rather try and upgrade early to get a completely different phone rather than pay $100 now then only have it for a few months and pay another $100-$200 for a new upgraded phone. Is this possible?

You could always go to a Verizon store and ask, but I doubt you will get much luck being 6 months early.

If they say you can, though, don't leave the store to think about which phone you want and think you will get the same answer if you come back later for the upgrade. If they offer it, grab the offer WHEN THEY OFFER IT!

You may have an upgrade coming up but I'm pretty sure no one can get a NE2 discount anymore.

There may still be some who have one last NE2 discount available; once someone is eligible, they have six months to use it.

Although there is the misconception that the NE2 is just the subsidized portion of the new contract, not the actual $$ discount that the NE2 used to give.

Doubt it, I was 3 days away and they would not do it early...

I will give a no as an answer. You received a subsidized phone in return of a 24 month contract. During that time VZW recoups the cost of the device. You are now wanting to reup 10 months before your contract is up. It will not happen. VZW will have lost money on the that deal.

Pay the $100 or get a cheapo phone from Ebay to tie you over until August.

I have heard of some people getting early upgrade of a week or two at most.  These would be android phones.  If you have an iPhone, definately not even a day early, Apple will not allow it.

Your best option is probably what budone suggested.

Amd0704, I know broken phones can be upsetting and that you need a replacement phone as soon as possible. Since upgrades are already 4 months before the end of your contract, upgrading at discount 6 months early would not be feasible. If you have other lines on your account, I would suggest checking those as well. It is great that you have insurance though and can save a huge amount versus paying full retail for a new phone. Insurance would be your best option. You can make a claim at phoneclaim.com/verizon.
