Fact - Big red is greedy, and with the best service around, they beat up their customers because they know just how dependent we are on our cells working.

Fact - Big red does not lose any money when selling you a discounted phone.

Fact - Big red offered the $30 "Unlimited" data, but throttles your bandwidth after you hit 5 gigs

Fact - Big red in an attempt to get more money attempted to block you from tethering your "unlimited" data to any other devices without the purchase of their bloatware tethering service for the low price of an extra $20/ month

Fact - Big red continues to charge you $30 + $20 for unlimited data + tethering and caps you at 2 gigs.

Fact - Big red decided that this wasn't enough $ so they have done away with their limited unlimited plans unless you pay $600 for your next decent phone to avoid going to a more expensive contract.

Fact - Data users will continue to buy their phones from craigslist or purchase unlocked phones from other online stores ie: Amazon.

Fact - Big red will not have very many customers locked in to contracts after 2 years are up, and will lose them to prepaid services like straight talk that use big red's & other carrier's towers and can use any unlocked phone with their service.

Fact - Big red has grown too big for it's britches and has made a seriously bad move that will lose them a ton of business.

Fact : They invest more in their network than other companies, with over 70 Billion invested in the past 10 years

Becoming the strongest network didnt happen over night. You can call it greed but I call it paying for a service. There is a reason verizon works in areas other companies dont have a chance in.

Fact: Other than blackberry verizon gets very light discounts on the devices, its no where near what you think. And apple is one of the worst offenders. Verizon loses money on every single iphone they sell

Fact: there is no hard limit of 5 gigs for network optimization, it really depends on where you are located. myself i've used 30-40 gigs per month for the term of my 6 years with verizon and never been slowed down.

Fact: vzw isn't your home internet provider, with 4g speeds and ulmited data there would be all kinds of network problems. if you cant see the difference between using internet on a computer compared to a 4 inch phone you have bigger problems

Fact: verizon is a service provider, you can bring any cdma verizon branded device and it will work on their network. How you get the phone is up to you

Fact: buying a phone on craigslist gives you zero protection. You have no warranty, you have no recourse if they file an insurance claim, you have no recourse if the device is already stolen

Fact: July 19th we will hear about the Q2 earning statement for vzw... hint: i doubt they lost any customers

Fact: Verizon has 120 million customers, not every single one of them will ever be happy at the same time

Oh thats right you won't read any of that.. logic would be too much to ask for..just cover your eyes and go LALAL can't see you..

Fact: Buy a Square Trade Warranty.  The following is right off the Square Trade site:

  • Covered Issues: Both accidents (e.g., broken screen or other damage through drops AND liquid damage including full immersion) and out-of-warranty normal use failures (e.g.,hardware failures or malfunctions) are covered. We do not cover loss, theft, willful damage or damage occurring through gross misuse.

When I got the SquareTrade warranty on my last iPhone4 (prior to the Rezound), the Rep told me that you can drop the phone in the toilet and they will cover it.  This is something Asurion and Verizon do not do.

Fact: July 19th we will hear about the Q2 earning statement for vzw... hint: i doubt they lost any customers

Fact: They will make another billion dollar plus profit off their customers backs.

I'd still like to know what customers.  What percentage of customers wanted this.  Was it more than 50% of data subscribers?

... or was it a paid focus group who most likely didn't listen to the sales pitch and just wanted their check

I guess you never bought a stolen device before.  I seen it quite a few times where someone reports their device stolen after they sold it.  Also I have seen people end up buying stolen devices.  Once it is marked as lost or stolen it can no longer be activated on Verizons network.  SquareTrade warranty will not help you.

I want to start off by saying I am NOT fan of the new Share Everything Plan and have posted many times about this.  That said, I do agree with Jim, This is how Verizon wants to drive their business and it leaves us (the consumer) a few choices.

1) Keep our existing phones and do NOT upgrade = Nothing Changes

2) Purchase a phone at Full Retail and no new contract = Nothing Changes

3) Purchase the subsidized phones - You will be forced to change to either a Tiered Data Plan and nothing else changes

4) Purchase a subsidized Phone and change to a Share Everything Contract = Speaks for itself

5) Go to another Carrier and jump into their mix of things.

I did a lot of playing with the calculators on the share everything plans, and some of them do make sense for some people (4 or 5 phones on the contract and little data usage). For me with 2 phones on the account it will cost me an additional $45 per month to use the same Data I am using now on my Unlimited plan, however I do not know how that will change once my area gets 4G. My understanding is 4G uses more data anyway, but I cannot confirm.

Now here is the kicker.  Everyone is talking about the other carriers Unlimited Data plans yet they are failing to advise that only Sprint has a truly Unlimited Data plan (for today). T-Mobile states right in their contracts that the unlimited Data will be set to full throttle for the first 2 GB used, and then it will be throttled down after 2 GB of data is used.  The only difference between that plan and the new VZW plans are, VZW will charge you for the additional data where T-Mobile just slows you down.

No crap... really? I just posted that they have reliable service.

Fact: Other than blackberry verizon gets very light discounts on the devices, its no where near what you think. And apple is one of the worst offenders. Verizon loses money on every single iphone they sell

While it is true that they initially lose $ on high end phones when they sell you a phone for less than they buy it for, they more than over compensate on your rates, & fees when you are locked into a 2 year contract, especially if you leave before your contract is up. I reiterate... They never lose a dime on a phone. Phones make them money, just not the day you buy them.

Fact: there is no hard limit of 5 gigs for network optimization, it really depends on where you are located. myself i've used 30-40 gigs per month for the term of my 6 years with verizon and never been slowed down.

I wasn't referring to you or me specifically when I talked about throttling, it is something that they introduced shortly after they started offering "unlimited" data plans, they reserve the right to throttle your internet if you go above a cap that they set on unlimited data at their discretion without warning.

Fact: vzw isn't your home internet provider, with 4g speeds and ulmited data there would be all kinds of network problems. if you cant see the difference between using internet on a computer compared to a 4 inch phone you have bigger problems

Who said anything about replacing my home ISP, I have fios internet at home, and have no need to try and power my home's internet ready devices with my cell phone. However, with current 4g speeds, and someone paying for unlimited data, with no caps, I'm sure someone like you that cranks out 30 - 40 gigs a month has tried this. Most people tether while they are on the road and don't have access to a normal wifi network to continue productivity, video conference, etc.

Fact: verizon is a service provider, you can bring any cdma verizon branded device and it will work on their network. How you get the phone is up to you

Didn't I already say that in my initial post...

Fact: buying a phone on craigslist gives you zero protection. You have no warranty, you have no recourse if they file an insurance claim, you have no recourse if the device is already stolen

Refer to earlier post... Also if you pay for the verizon offered protection plan, you are also looking at a $100 deductible... Hmmm... Sounds like half the price of a higher end new phone. LOL

Fact: July 19th we will hear about the Q2 earning statement for vzw... hint: i doubt they lost any customers

Well considering that there are a whopping 2 days with the new policies initiated in Q2 I doubt that they have lost any business, as a matter of fact, I would assume that they had a large push in business as anyone with half a brain that was eligible for an upgrade before the 28th picked up a new phone at the discounted price and carried on with their grandfathered "unlimited" data. Verizon will start losing customers a little ways down the line... Some people look past today. =D

Fact: Verizon has 120 (You gave them a 10% increase it's actually 108 million combined with vodaphone) million customers, not every single one of them will ever be happy at the same time (Duh you can never make everybody happy, but forcing people with 10+ years of loyalty to take a crappier plan or pay full price for phones is just bad customer service)

Fact: punishing customers by keeping them out of a contract is a bad idea.

Fact: charging 35$ to switch out a defective device is illegal but they do it anyway (oh wait that's another rant)

I agree, I will be out of contract this year, after being told I would keep my unlimited data, no problem as long as I keep a smart phone. Now I'm switching companies.. good going Verizon, I can use a 2 gig limit for 30????????? dollars in one afternoon streaming last fm at the gym. I've been with you for over a decade, Shame.
