Why does my phone not ring when i have a call coming in

What is up with the Samsung it does not ring when I have a call coming in. This has been happening for 6 or 7 months now

Is the phone set to priority or "do not disturb"? I would assume that you already verified you have a ringtone set for calls.

Yes and yes... It rings sometimes, and other times it won't.  It be sitting right next to me and never even ring..

No it is not set to priority. Or don't distu, and yes I have a ring tone set.

Have you noticed that this happens only in certain places, or at certain times of the day? When a call is missed, do you get a notification? Are texts and data services working as expected?
