Why do current customers pay more than new customers?

Why are phone upgrades cheaper to new customers and existing customers pay more ? Been with verizon long before it was Verizon ( 25 yrs or more } .Why would verizon care if existing customers received same deal , makes no sense to me that you rub existing customers noses in the fact that new customers get better deals on phones .Seriously thinking about switching companies.

Existing customers can always get the sane deals. When promos apply for adding lines you can do that too. It’s always a good idea to shop around for the best deal, though you’ll notice all carriers do it that way

Our Verizon account was originally an Alltel one and one of our phones was a pixel for $10 a month. You're focusing too hard on promos requiring a new line. Guess what happens when you switch carriers? You'll be making the same rant 2 years from now on their forum.

And in 2 years you'll be switching again

I don't think he'll be switching again, if he has free interantional texting with other carriers like T-mobile, and cheaper unlimited data plans. Even so, he could switch in 2 years back to Verizon and be treated better than he has as an existing customer.

I have had my same number for almost 20 years now. Why should i have to add a line and change my number to get the same discount as a new customer?

We truly value your long time loyalty and never want you feeling this way, rmoreland71. It's important you keep your number and we do not recommend adding a new line if it is not needed. Please tell us more. Are you looking to upgrade? If so, what device are you interested in?
